The End Is Neigh! Concept Sketch of Mecha Shark-Rex

DeviantArt user Heckthor has foretold the death of all mankind. Do you see that picture down there? It’s a god forsaken shark AND t-rex ALL IN ONE! I’m not sure you all understand the gravity of the situation my friends. What are you going to do when this mother comes after you and wants to make you it’s bitch, hmm? Run? Ha, the t-rex can run up to 40 MPH at top speed. You just died. Oh, you’re going to hop in a speed boat instead? Obviously, since its mechanical, you’re safe in the water. Then BAM, you’re in two pieces feeding the fishes since a standard great white shark can swim over 25 MPH, much faster than you can get that little boat out of port. Those red eyes are fitting. Click the source for all of his posted works, which some, as I initially imagined, are equally scary. Click the image for a full size view if you think your heart can take it. We’re all doomed.

Artist Spotlight: NVart Winner Gediminas Pranckevicius

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

Gediminas’ vital statics are scarce (he’s so mysterious!), however as his website says, he was born in Panevezys, Lithuania. The 27 year old artist attended the Vilnius Academy of Art where he completed his studies, and likes snowboarding. Oh, and did we mention he makes some super awesome surreal art? He recently did work (and was selected as the first place winner) for the NVart contest for the image below.

The NVart contest is a quarterly held art competition sponsored by nVidia to promote creativity. Pranckevicius’ image below, and the contest itself, was an invitation to recreate their most imaginative fantasies in the style of master surrealist Jacek Yerka. Click the source to visit his website and view his other works, which are equally great.

Doctors Take Note, New Pain Chart For Kids By Allie Brosh

Mar.30, 2010, under Artist Spotlight, Funny, Web & Graphic Design/Development
Tags: , , ,

Ever been to a doctors office when you were a kid? Of course you did, because you insisted on going outside without your safety helmet on, didn’t you? You’re not like the other kids, Jimmy. You have to be more careful because you’re “special”. Wait, where was I going with this? Oh, yes.. pain chart. So when you were a kid a doctor probably showed you the chart below, asked you what number represented your pain, and then acted accordingly to give you some of those experimental drugs, and not the awesome ones, the ones that made you have flashbacks about the time when Susan stole your cupcake near the sand lot. That bitch. I propose a new pain chart, one that I think better represents how a your little tyke might feel. Take note doctors, this is your new pain chart. Print it out, post it up.

Hit the jump for the new charts.

Artist Spotlight: The CG World Of Lior Arditi

Lior Arditi is an artist out of Rehovot, Israel who makes some of the best stylized CG images we’ve seen. They are strangely familiar, and his sense of atmosphere and mood are fantastic. Here’s what he had to say about his latest project for Erroca Eye Wear:

Hello guys. I wanted to share the latest project I had the pleasure designing and art-directing, here at JCS studio. the Erroca Eye Wear Commercial.

Though the concept is controversial- pro global warming, and destruction of earth & ozone layer, the design process of a post apocalyptic environment was a lot of fun.

Since don’t consider myself to be much of a Matt painter, the whole process was a big challenge for me. the fact that we were given only two and a half weeks to put it all together according to the off-line editing, didn’t made life easier.

Luckily, I was given an artistic freedom from the director & client, so I didn’t get any sticks in my wheels along the way. the only barrier standing between me and the finish line were my skills.

Most of the designs was projected over a 3D models, and was composed using after affect. the animated parts- trees, bicycles using Maya, fire & particles simulations using FumeFX.

A link to the final product, VFX Breakdown, along with the credits list of the talented dudes that made this happen, can be found here: http://vimeo.com/10185678

Artist Spotlight: Adrian Grajdeanu’s Wicked Character Design

Adrian Grajdeanu is a character designer/2D artist who draws some scary ass pictures. You’ve been warned. It gave me nightmares and I can neither confirm nor deny that I peed the bed a little. It’s reminiscent of Resident Evil/Silent Hill type of model design, but definitely has it’s own vision. The full set is well worth a look, which is located in the source.  Also a few more after the click. Don’t blame me if you scream in horror at your cubicle. I take no responsibility for your shenannigans.
