Three Howling Wolf Head Comes To Nook

Do you own one of those super fashionable three wolf’s head shirts? Are you literate and/or like to read? Do you own a Nook? If you answered yes to at least one out of the three of those questions above, you should probably buy this bad boy. I am pretty sure this is right after the howling happened, as one looks sleepy, and the other looks menacing. Due to the good folks at B&N (Barnes & Noble) who figured out the good idea of background functionality on their device (I’m looking with angry eyes at you, Amazon), not only is this going to be awesome on the back but also on the front! Just the way I like it. Bow-chia-bowbow. You know what I’m saying.

Barnes & Noble Put the Smackdown on Amazon

Last Tuesday Barnes & Noble decided to release images of it’s Nook virtural book reader. It’s being hailed as the Kindle Killer, referring to the already released Amazon Kindle. It will run you $260, and hits the shelves at the end of November. Pre-order at www.nook.com.

It features a small full-color touch screen which can display album artwork, book cover art, etc., all underneath the 16 shade gray scale e-ink e-paper screen. It also boasts a pop-up keypad, 2GB of internal memory, microSD expansion slot, MP3 player, 3G/wi-fi access for downloading content, and picture viewer in beautiful.. grey. However one of it’s more interesting features is that it runs the Android OS, which opens it up to the plethora of third-party vendor apps.. and hacking. A dollar says this thing is hacked within the first week of it’s launch.

One of the more exciting features (if you like to read.. which I can’t, don’t judge me!) is the Nook-to-Nook software that lets your friends “borrow” e-books to other Nook owners for up to 14 days. While the book is “borrowed” on the other device, the owner does not have access to it during this time period, which just seems a little odd to me. However, you do have access to free public-domain titles from Google Books and Fictionwise sites. That should keep you busy while your buddy borrows your Harry Potter series.
